- VALUES (Up On The Tonto Rim)In Poetry·August 30, 2023I was runnin' on a back road Way up near the Tonto Rim When my semi started smokin' And my hopes began to dim. I'd never get to Payson And drop this load on time. After towing, parts, and labor, I wouldn't make a dime. As I stood there on the shoulder And pondered what to do Staring blindly 'cross a canyon Some things came into view. It wasn't just the mountains, Gray and white against blue sky, Or green pines standing straight and tall, That began to catch my eye. I was in it for the money, Just as much as any man, But also cause I got to see The beauty of this land. I was grateful for the people I met while running free, But lately, though still lookin' I'd forgotten how to see. So, hell, the rig was busted And the boss would sure be mad But I thought I heard a river... You know, it didn't seem so bad! Sure, I have my obligations And the things I've said I'll do. There's money to be made But before each day is through... There's those moments in the mountains Or perhaps along the shore When I stop and I remember What the hell I do it for. So, I stood there with my cell phone, My finger set to dial... Then went looking for that river. The rig could wait a while. • Donovan Baldwin000
- OPEN LETTER TO MR. (THANE) MACBETHIn Poetry·August 31, 2023My dear Macbeth, if you had known Where greed and lust would lead, Would you have hopped the next stage gone, Before your better half would need... A lawyer, and a good hand soap, And, perhaps, a sleeping pill, Or, would you, as you did, you dope, Allow your darling dear to kill... Old Duncan as he slept and snored, Serenely in your king size bed, Unaware of your plans toward, His kingdom crown, and royal head? • Donovan Baldwin001
- WITHOUT YOU I MUST... AND OTHER THOUGHTSIn Poetry·August 31, 2023without you i must play solitaire with blank cards... losing every game ----- wildflowers are best tending their own raw beauty... appealing to poets ----- blossom of sheer veils she crosses the room to me... as each petal falls ----- once a shy flower secrets hidden by petals... now blooming wildly ----- what's the perfect gift when she says i'm all tied up... extra batteries ----- solo flower show unfolding each soft petal... orchid on display ----- lay soft words on her as moonlight brushes her skin... evoke silver cries ----- with each pulsation as the honey flows between... these two become one ----- threw away the map took her hand in his and strolled... into their future ----- night sky has diamonds moon the brightest jewel of all... you are all i see ----- As he slept, she read what he'd written, amazed that this odd fellow wrote about her. Even more amazed at the wonderful things he said about her and the way he said them. Who would have thought this old bum would have such beauty inside... then she saw the book and the medal. ----- heart ever aware constant awe of her beauty... which she cannot see ----- lashed with poetry his gentle domination... she submits to words ----- No written words suffice, For this poet to create The most beautiful poem for her. For that, she must feel his gaze, See how his eyes follow her, The hesitant reach of his fingers, As he dares the first time, To touch her, The breath, Almost a gasp, The lips, groping for words, As she becomes more real Than any poem he might write, And a moment is born that Written down or not, Will echo down Forever's hallways. ----- sees me as i am touches all my scars and sins... loves the man they made ----- once a wallflower till that night he danced with her... naked in moonlight ----- poet at a loss there's no word for this desire... unless i say love ----- undress each other committing scandalous acts... fantasies fulfilled ----- lips almost touching seconds before their mouths met... a single breath shared ----- wanting to be fair she shared most shocking secrets... he smiled said me too ----- inside of eden they learned of good and evil... but not which was which ----- desiring to please she's open to suggestion... and he has a few ----- a strong appetite her mouth waters with desire... before their love feast ----- if i had known then who you were where to find you... we'd have met sooner ----- wallflower's courage her embrace the beginning... of their moonlight dance ----- more than strong enough gratful to be in his arms... to relax her guard ----- forgiving her sins she has never committed... but often dreamed of ----- wisps of words on you caressins satin ribbons... touching poetry ----- finding the right words with a purpose to become... poetry for her ----- • Donovan Baldwin001
- WAITING FOR TIME'S TRAINIn Poetry·September 1, 2023From yesterday, surrounded by mists Obscuring, heightening, The effect, Trench coats and trilbys Cloches and cloaks Figures from some other time Gliding up and down the platform In the smoke of the railway, And within the memories Of people rapidly forgetting. • Donovan Baldwin000
- MUST YOU LEAVE AT DAWNIn Poetry·September 1, 2023Must you leave at dawn, Leaving only with words... The ones I chose, The ones you left, Can you not stay, and, Resting on my chest, Softly speak those words Growing more eager as you Delve deeper into Your own desires, And my wordless responses? • Donovan Baldwin000
- MUST YOU LEAVE AT DAWN?In Poetry·September 2, 2023Must you leave at dawn, Leaving only with words... The ones I chose, The ones you left, Can you not stay, and, Resting on my chest, Softly speak those words Growing more eager as you Delve deeper into Your own desires, And my wordless responses? ----- what she does to me makes me growl a primal growl... before her first touch ------ nude in a gown of sighs as his day broke over her... filling hills and valleys ----- by one candle's light she shows him all her secrets... he must learn by touch ----- one bold night she dares to reveal all her secrets... to please her poet ----- cheek against bare chest her hand peacefully resting... just above my heart a snuggling wiggle a warm sigh of contentment... as she fills my arms intimately aware of her body curved to mine... where it's meant to be ----- how long lasts a kiss the best will be a lifetime... where naught else exists ----- when properly stroked touched a roughly gentle way... she sings like crystal too like a crystal stimulated she shatters... in blinding prisms explosions of light ultimate release made known... ecstasy's rainbow ----- there's nothing stronger than love's ethereal strands... which reach between us ------ would touching you burn each time i imagine it... i feel i'm on fire ----- desires which fill her pleasures she's so long denied... become real with him ----- i dare not touch you for fear that you are not real... dream that fades at dawn ----- • Donovan Baldwin001
