- OUR SHARED SEASONIn Poetry·October 19, 2023I watch you Step by daring step, As you cross the room. The many layers Required by custom among the public Dropping here in private, As do the leaves in Autumn, Leaving bare your natural form Revealed to be so beautiful to my eyes, So desired within my soul, The approaching of my love Awakening in me a Spring, A desire for warm kisses on my skin, The taste of the sweet breeze from your lips, Entering and filling me, Signalling the coming of love which Will be the climax of This... Our shared season. • Donovan Baldwin000

- FOR LOVE MUST HAVEIn Poetry·October 19, 2023Were I To Love Were I to love, And never speak, The words of love, Rattling in my head, How empty would My world be. For love must have, The sounds of love, The words, the winds, The thunderstorms, The quiet breezes, That fill the skies. Were I to love, And never show, The gestures and, My wide eyed smile, How would she know, My inmost thoughts. For love must have, The sights of love, The sunlight, moonlight, The brightest blossoms, The emerald seas, Where love sails. Were I to love, And never kiss, The dear soft lips, Which smile at me, For fear of failure, How would I know? For love must have, The moment joined, The passion shared, The vows and oaths, The uniting of the two, That makes them one. • Donovan Baldwin000
- MY WORDSIn Poetry·October 19, 2023Remember this: Often when you read my words, They were written by my heart Without checking with me first, But, also remember, I read them later, And let them stand. • Donovan Baldwin000
- OLD MEN SHOULD NEVER FALL IN LOVEIn Poetry·October 19, 2023Old men should never fall in love. The pain is not as deep as it was in youth, But, in many ways, is deeper and more mortal. Old men have no way to step aside, Nor deflect, The feelings that they thought, Have long been buried. New love in old men brings up memories, And dreams Which they no longer know how To deal with. Nor can they hope to live forever, Dance all night, Or make love With passion, As they did when they were young. Even worse, they know it. They know they could make love, In ways which might surprise, A younger inexperienced woman, Who probably believes they've never made love. But, There's no way to explain Without being laughed at, Or spurned, And, You certainly cannot demonstrate. There's no where for an old man to go, If he loves and is rejected, Or loves and is accepted. An old man in love becomes trapped, Seldom living with his love, But with dreams, memories, Phantoms, and fantasies instead. • Donovan Baldwin000
