- A TAIL THAT'S TRUE, SIRIn Poetry·September 7, 2023I once went strolling by the shore, Looking for a mermaid, Sir! Such a clever chap as I, She never would evade, Sir! One day I spied the lady, Swimming in the sea, Sir! I marveled at the wondrous sight, Unveiled that day to me, Sir! Her hair was long, a deep sea green, She had quicksilver skin, Sir! And, oh her eyes, how to describe, They'd drive a man to sin, Sir! Her breasts; two full and floating globes, Each with a coral tip, Sir! Why, overall a charming lass. Oh yes, she was a pip, Sir! There's just one thing that I might change, If I could have my wish, Sir! I would love her just the way she is... If the bottom half weren't fish, Sir! • Donovan Baldwin000

- YOUR POWER OVER MEIn Poetry·September 8, 2023As in my mind you walk by, My lady, I will eye you, Slyly watch you, Saunter, sashay, Seductively innocent Honestly unaware, Of your power over me, Turn me to putty, Weak and trembling, At your passage. Not a femme fatale, you say? Oh, my dear, if you, But, only knew Your power. • Donovan Baldwin000
- I TELL YOU WHO YOU AREIn Poetry·September 8, 2023I want my words To tell you who you are, Trace the sensuous curves Of your seductive mind, Point out the arousing thoughts Which tumble so daintily From your kissable lips, Describe, As best mortal man may, The beauty of the woman, The female person, That you are, And have never seen, Perhaps would not recognize, But, for my words. • Donovan Baldwin000
- MY DAY BEGINS WITH YOUR SMILEIn Poetry·September 8, 2023I hope you do not mind that each day, In order to set the tone, I take a moment to gaze upon your picture. You are smiling. It is a pleasing smile, And, that is one reason I stop to look. Yet, behind that smile I sense a sadness. The eyes too, though pleasant to gaze into Hold a hint of darkness, of life weariness, That should not be found In one who can smile so sweetly. Perhaps it is passion that I glimpse Behind the eyes Within the smile, Passion which lies hidden out of sight, Or so you think. Yes, I start each day with your smile Wondering about the sadness, Thinking about the passion, Worrying, which is not my job, Or right, I know, About your heart. I am nothing to you. Just a passing face on a computer screen, And sometimes words which may or may not Be worth your time and thought. But... My day begins with your smile And thoughts about sadness, Passion, And how strange it is that A stranger's smile says so much to me. • Donovan Baldwin000

- LANCELOT AND GUINEVEREIn Poetry·September 10, 2023I rode by, beneath the sky Upon the road to Camelot, Arthur, king, sent me his ring, Summoned me, young Lancelot. I mounted fast, until at last I ended at the table round, Sat me down, with knights renowned, Upon the consecrated ground. We drank with cheer, 'til Guinevere Turned her dark eyes to look at me. Our future written, I was smitten, As Merlin looked on knowingly. The rest you've read, how on my head, True love placed a traitor's crown, Arthur's queen and I, dared fly too high Brought fair Camelot tumbling down • Donovan Baldwin000
- WHO ARE ALL THESE SHADESIn Poetry·September 10, 2023Who are all these shades, Figures passing as mists Across the memories Of places and times Long past? Forgotten yet remembered, Gait and voice and laugh Fists raised in anger, Hands with gentle touch, Benediction, Blessing, Dismissal. Lessons learned Without teaching All imprinted upon The man I am, The shades themselves, Fading more With passing time, More dim in memory, Than the mark they made. • Donovan Baldwin000
- DON'T TELL ME WHO I MAY OR MAY NOT LOVEIn Poetry·September 10, 2023Don't tell me who I may or may not love, Don't describe the shape or color of my desire. I will choose the person, the sex, the interests, And we will decide between us what works best for us, And the neighbors may raise their eyes, And they may gossip over the back fence, But, you and I will not care, for we know, That we love and no matter what we do, What we do and feel is love. • Donovan Baldwin000
