- THE CURVES OF YOUIn Poetry·September 5, 2023I mark the curves of you Drawing images sacred And profane yet made holy By my adoration for the Subject so nakedly Displayed and portrayed, For love and beauty And desire and pleasure May all be the same Painting drawing sculpture Or poetry of touch and kiss. • Donovan Baldwin000
- THE GOODS THEY OFFEREDIn Poetry·September 5, 2023I've walked this boulevard of sins In so many towns with so many Courtesans, to speak politely, Upon my arm, offering pleasures And delights spelled out in Burning neon in my blood, Taking me to well used beds, Turning back the covers That they wore so I could See the goods they offered. • Donovan Baldwin000
- YOU HAD TO BE THEREIn Poetry·September 5, 2023If you've never heard it, Felt it, Lived it, How can I explain? If it's been but badly played, How can you understand, The emotional grandeur? Can I speak words that tell you Of that magnificent ditch, The Grand Canyon, Or a child's excitement On Christmas morning? The birth of a child, The death of a loved one. You had to be there, they say. At the coming of dawn, The slow descent of The burning sun into The cold dark sea, The swell of the music, Sweeping the audience Silently away... The proud gasp as She steps upon the stage, Resplendent in her tutu, Her first pirouette, The ecstasy on her face at Her first grand jeté, Before the crowd, Flushed cheeks and Proud smile saying She knows you are watching... I remember so many, But for others... You had to be there. • Donovan Baldwin000
- WRITING ME INTO YOUR STORYIn Poetry·September 6, 2023Drape yourself in the barest of dreams, Write yourself the steamiest love story, Step before the bright window of my love, Let me see you as you truly are. Softly read me what you have written, Standing for a moment before my eyes, Stepping boldly forward, as you allow, All the dreams to fall away, Writing me into your story. • Donovan Baldiwn000
- DID YOU SEE ME?In Poetry·September 6, 2023Did you see me? I was the boy looking out over the waves, Remembering all the pirate stories I read Starting with Treasure Island, Gift from my aunt on my 10th birthday... Watching the water, As book after book of diving Sailing, adventures over time And over the world washed by waves Of the very water so calm today... As you saw me... Lapping at my feet, Yet remembering the storm waves Bold whitecaps, one after another Beating against the beach, Covering where I stood today, or... Yesterday, when you saw me, Staring out over the water, Wondering where it had been, Where it was going and If it would take me with it Someday... When... You'll look and the boy will be gone. • Donovan Baldwin000

- LET'S GET PHYSICAL (HUMOR, I HOPE)In Poetry·September 7, 2023In my blood cholesterol rages, Causing geometric increase of my ages, Measured by official cholesterol gauges. I try to dissuade, disavow, and distract, But the doctor restates with so little tact, My health's in danger - and that's a fact. So, I turn to food most decidedly lean, Although this fare will turn me mean, I suppose I can eat it, as long as it's green. But, some night when I've had all the greens I can take, And, the whole world's asleep, yet, I'm still awake, I'll dine in the moonlight... on a blood red steak. • Donovan Baldwin000
