- I HEARD THE MOON SPEAKIn Poetry·October 8, 2023Late one night in a foreign land, An alien moon shone brightly, as Snow fell softly as Heaven's dust, Through convoluted, black silhouettes, Of strange, leafless trees. Around me, a stranger there, snow covered Earth, and roofs, and tree limbs, Gleaming eerily white In the cold white beams of That full and shining moon. From nowhere, from everywhere, I heard whispers, Words just beyond comprehension, Standing confused amid Their almost meanings. I listeded to these night time voices, Murmuring sibilant, silvery sounds, Whispering past black tree limbs, Leaving secret wordless messages, In my ears and in my mind, As they shimmered past upon The crisply frozen air. No one was there but me, and For one brief moment I thought, The Moon tried to speak to me, Hoping to reveal interstellar secrets, Man is not normally allowed to know, Using a shimmering language that Mortal man can never understand. • Donovan Baldwin000
