- Call for Submissions: In Depth: Life in PhotographsIn Calls - Submit Your Work·July 17, 2023The Mosesian Center for the Arts invites artists to submit photographs or photo-based work and projects that are inspired by the depth and complexities of being human. From formal portraits to snapshots of daily life to photographs of humans at work or performing on stage or just being. Photography, from its early beginnings, has captured fascinating glimpses of humanity. Documentary photography, portraiture, work that details humans’ interactions with the environment and work that captures life and its many aspects from joy to sorrow to isolation and friendships are all welcome. Artists can submit photographic work done digitally or using film as well as alternative photographic methods such as cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, or other photo-based works. About Mosesian Arts:The Mosesian Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts venue in Watertown, Massachusetts. The 30,000 square foot center, located within a former U.S. Army arsenal, houses a 339-seat main stage theater, a 100-seat black box theater, exhibition galleries, classrooms, and rehearsal studios. Mosesian Arts is located six miles from downtown Boston, borders the Charles River and Brighton, and is easily accessible from surrounding suburbs and Metro West. Programs include professional theater and musical performances, gallery exhibitions, literary and art discussions, and performing and visual arts classes and workshops for all ages. Artists will be notified of final dates in their acceptance letters. Eligibility:All artists regardless of location are welcome to apply, including international artists. Local artists may drop their work off on Saturday, September 9 from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM and Thursday, September 7, 10:30 AM–4:00 PM. Non-local artists work must be received at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 c/o Exhibitions by September 7, 2023. Non-local artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from MCA and are responsible for insuring their work while in transit. If shipping work, each artist must provide a pre-paid, UPS or FedEx return shipping label including insurance. Please pack your work in sturdy reusable packaging. The Mosesian Center for the Arts carries appropriate insurance to cover all artwork in the show for the duration of the exhibition, including the time frame of dropoff, installation, deinstallation, and pickup. Additional guidelines: Participants may only submit original work that has been completed within the last five years. Any work accepted for exhibition may not be removed or exchanged during the duration of the exhibit. Work must be framed and ready to hang with wires and screws. Saw tooth hangers and sandwich frames may not be used. Works on paper and smearable mediums such as charcoal and pastels must be protected under glass or acrylic. For framed artwork larger than 24” on the longest side, glass may not be used. Instead, artists must use Plexiglas or comparable acrylic glass. Mats must be white, off white, gray, or other neutral tones. Frames should be neutral colors (white, black, silver, gold, wood). Unframed stretched canvases must have the sides painted or otherwise finished to be integral to the work and must be dry. Submission Fee:$10 per submission. Limit 5 submissions per artist. Commission Structure:Artists receive 60% commission, and the Mosesian Center for the Arts receives 40% for art sold during the exhibition. - APA SteinShow 2023 - Alberta Potters' Association 2023 Call for entryIn Calls - Submit Your Work·July 17, 2023The Alberta Potters' Association invite you to apply for our 2023 juried exhibition, APA Stein Show 2023. Our exhibition will take place on September 23rd, 2023 at Village Brewery in Calgary, Alberta, All steins entered into the show must be for sale. The consignment split for sold items is 30% to the APA and 70% to the artist. Everyone is welcome to attend the event at Village Brewery as it is open to the public from 11:30am-10 pm. Winners are expected to be at the show to receive their awards.Please apply with any stein, functional or sculptural, to our exhibition. To be considered, work must be minimum 75% ceramic. You may submit up to 5 pieces. There is a non-refundable submission fee of $20 CAD per submission and $10 CAD for APA members per submission. This call is open to all clay artists no matter where you reside. This is a juried exhibition. You may submit up to 5 pieces. Not all submissions are guaranteed entry to the show. There will be two jurors forming our jury committee. An educator and an APA Member and past Stein Show winner. Jurors are asked to review the steins on the following criteria: Originality: Is there something fresh and new about the content? Is the work individual and/or personal in its approach? Creative Expression: Is the piece memorable? Move you in an emotional or intellectual way? Challenge your thinking? Leave a lasting impression? Technical Skill: Does the piece reflect high quality technical skill? Colour: Is the colour effective with the shape? For the Functional Category: Given that the judging is done online, the judges will view the piece only online and consider the piece’s functionality. For the Sculptural Category: Does the piece demonstrate the idea behind its title. Artists will submit their entries through ArtCall for the APA Stein show. Artists must select the appropriate category for each piece from the drop down menu and will be judged accordingly. You are responsible for ensuring all entry information submitted for APA Stein Show is true and correct. All artworks must be original and made by the artist applying. If applying with a collaborative piece, all artists must be notified and listed as makers within the description of the application. Artwork must have been created within the last 2 years and not previously shown with the APA. After the closing date August 27th, our jury committee will complete the process and artists will be notified of acceptance or rejection via email by September 3rd 2023. Physical items must be delivered to Calgary, Alberta, Canada by September 20th, 2023. All work must be mailed in or delivered in a box or container ready for transport, clearly labeled with the Artist's name and contents. All communications regarding the APA Teapot show will be made through ArtCall. Please check your junk and spam folders often and add ArtCall.org as a contact to ensure nothing is missed. Accepted works will be eligible to win one of 4 prizes during our exhibition. Best Functional Stein, Best Sculptural Stein, Best Student Stein and People's Choice Award. Winners of each category will be notified before the event and presented with their prize at our in-person event at Village Brewery in Calgary, AB on September 23rd, 2023. If the winner is not present, the prize will be mailed. If upon the arrival of artwork, it becomes clear that the image file submitted was altered or is in violation of any of the guidelines and rules stated in this prospectus, the work will automatically be disqualified and shipped back to the artists at their expense. Entry fees will not be refunded. The APA reserves the right of refusal of any work that is not professional quality. NO seconds, cracks or flaws will be accepted when work is received in Calgary. Work must be finished and not in green or bisque state. Please apply with your best work. Work that arrives late will not be accepted. Any unsold work from our in-person exhibition will be returned to local artists. The APA will cover shipping costs back to the Canadian artists.
