- IF ONLY SHE DARED, AND OTHER THOUGHTSIn Poetry·July 31, 2023if only she dared at least show her naked heart... dance her words for him ----- slow dancing at dawn neither day nor we are dressed... nor is there music ----- Her sudden stillness Punctuated by one sigh In encircling arms She sinks sated and replete A long awaited release #tanka ------- poet writes on her whispering words to soft skin with tender kisses ----- poetry whispers in rays of sunlight passing breeze every word your name ----- For some, love is not only an internal desire for the happiness of the other. For these people, its physical manifestations and expressions are natural, normal, and, for some, even necessary. Some cannot imagine love without lust, or vice versa. Some people cannot imagine being these people, but they exist. ----- she unraveled as he tenderly took each strand... wove her a poem ----- upon her garden kisses like a sudden rain... storms rose up inside ----- fingers whispering touching messages of love... felt rather than heard ----- came to her garden waking all her butterflies... into thrilling flight ----- what could i write of if i had never found you... surely not of love ----- look upon my words find yourself loved within them... wanted and desired ----- i reach in darkness just to touch you a moment... reassure myself ----- forget the mirror see yourself as i see you... hear how i say your name ----- she feared her darkness until he showed her the path which led to his light ----- delightful dining a moveable feast indeed... she could not stay still ----- By Donovan Baldwin1316
- Mini Style Guide is a Must for Writers of all TypesIn General Discussion·July 15, 2022Whether you are writing an academic dissertation or business document or preparing a full-length novel for publication, the Mini Style Guide will prove invaluable. It is divided into three parts: Part 1 helps you navigate the intricacies of English grammar and punctuation and clarify commonly misused words. It outlines ten ‘golden rules’ to ensure Plain English, and explores inclusive writing, copyright and plagiarism. Part 2 clearly outlines how to structure a manuscript for publication, explaining the correct sequence of parts. It explains how to express titles of various artistic works, how to treat numbers, and how to present references. Part 3 surveys the confusing array of publishing options on offer from traditional publishing to self-publishing to help you make the choice that best suits you. Plentiful examples, templates for standard forms and letters, and a glossary of printing and publishing terms make it an indispensable tool for authors, editors and students. - PerfectionIn Poetry·October 29, 2023Ever seeking to make better Our faces and bodies Never satisfied with God-given attributes Our human frailty It’s your inner beauty Which attracts me Like honey every sweet Drop I imbibe eagerly Wanting more Ions connected via images So enticing and real But yet so absent And never to be here Floating bits of promise Perhaps it’s really best As reality can be inferior To fascinating images Drawn in words Upon flimsy pages This is perfection Upon which glimpses Of reality sneak through To be pushed aside In favor of this you115
- A MOMENT OF WONDERIn Poetry·October 29, 2023We find ourselves At a moment of wonder And are told that this Is an evil thing. How can this be that Such an exciting Exhilirating moment, The sharing of which Makes it exponentially More angelic for both Can be considered sin? I prefer a deity which Consecrates such times. • Donovan Baldwin112
- SHAPE OF A WOMANIn Poetry·October 4, 2023It's not the color of your lips, It's what they have to say, If your eyes be blue, green, or brown I'd love you anyway. The color of your skin, Also matters not to me, Nor the type of clothes you wear, Tight bound or fancy free. You can have the biggest bust, Or one that's rather small, I'm not just going to love that part, I hope to love you all. Your bottom can be curvy, Or perhaps a trifle flat, That's fine because, you see my love, That's not what I'm looking at. Fashion says how you should look, If a fool, you heed and listen, But, when I hold you in my arms, It won't be "fashion" that I'm kissin'. I want a woman in my arms, Who just wants to be right there. When it comes to height or weight, I can't say I really care. Age is not a factor, Nor if you have much wealth. Although I must admit, that I have a thing for health. If you can hug me tightly, After I've acted like an ass, Then open up your arms for me, And become my charming lass. • Donovan Baldwin1210
- Love for TreesIn Poetry·October 8, 2023Man uses wood without seeing The spark inside the living being The flowing sap and tender core Cleansing air, water and more Below the soil, symbiotic truth mycorrhizal web joined at root mutualistic defenses to defend Attacks from pests and pathogens Arboreal beings who share the earth Forgive us humans, huddled at hearth Warmed and lighted in the dark Grateful for your endless bark If we could only see your face And share in your collective space That binds all trees; holds them tight To withstand, withhold and stand upright I gaze in awe below your dome In woods that circle my own home I pray you feel me standing here With everlasting love… for trees Susan Smoter - Octiber 7, 20231210
