I hope you do not mind that each day,
In order to set the tone,
I take a moment to gaze upon your picture.
You are smiling.
It is a pleasing smile,
And, that is one reason I stop to look.
Yet, behind that smile
I sense a sadness.
The eyes too, though pleasant to gaze into
Hold a hint of darkness, of life weariness,
That should not be found
In one who can smile so sweetly.
Perhaps it is passion that I glimpse
Behind the eyes
Within the smile,
Passion which lies hidden out of sight,
Or so you think.
Yes, I start each day with your smile
Wondering about the sadness,
Thinking about the passion,
Worrying, which is not my job,
Or right, I know,
About your heart.
I am nothing to you.
Just a passing face on a computer screen,
And sometimes words which may or may not
Be worth your time and thought.
But...
My day begins with your smile
And thoughts about sadness,
Passion,
And how strange it is that
A stranger's smile says so much to me.
