Timmy's Adventure: How Lucky Am I?

Timmy sets out to get a new pair of inline skates so he can be cool like his friends and maybe skate even faster than them. When Mom tells Timmy he cannot get the skates right now, Timmy is angry! He and his dog, Jonah, rush out of the house. Timmy notices Mr. Miller from the hockey games across the street. He is putting a for sale sign in the front yard of the Johnson’s house. It has been emptied for a long time.
 
Timmy tells Mr. Miller how warm and inviting the Johnson’s house was the last time he was in it. He remembers all the toys their little daughter Elizabeth had in her toy room. Mr. Miller informs Timmy that all of that has changed. The Johnson’s had some problems and no longer live in the house. The house is falling apart.
 
Timmy not only notices things about the house that he had not seen before, but he also notices things about his neighborhood and his own house. Walking through the cold house with Mr. Miller makes Timmy realize just how lucky he is.
 
 
Timmy is a 10-year-old that has his heart set on a new pair of inline skates that will make him cool like his other hockey buddies. Timmy’s Adventure: How Lucky Am I? Takes the reader on a journey of a middle-class family in Northeastern Michigan that have all the necessities of life, but Timmy doesn’t truly understand what that means until he tours the emptied Johnson’s house across the street. Timmy’s Adventure is a heart-warming story about gratitude for ages 9 to 12 years.
