Can You See?
Look at me.
It's YOU I want to see me.
Look with the finest eyes you have,
And, even so,
You can never see,
The real me before you.
Look from every angle, above, below,
And, even that,
Will not allow you,
To see the reality of me.
Look at me.
I beg, and plead, and
Weep and pray, and in pain,
I will ask you, "Can you see?"
You will reply, "Yes."
But,
It will not be true.
What you cannot see,
You cannot know.
Look at me,
Please, look at me.
I am begging now,
Screaming,
LOOK AT ME!
Your face is towards me,
Your eyes see my face and body,
But,
No matter how hard you look,
You CANNOT see me.
Finally, I ask,
How can you say you know me,
When you cannot even see me?
There is much of me
That you can never see,
No matter how badly I desire,
For YOU to see.
So, once again, I ask,
"Can you see?"
Perhaps now, you can.
I wish you could look at me,
And really see me, but,
Even more,
I wish I could see you.
Think about it,
Now,
"Can you see?"
