It always irritates me when actors and actresses, professional athletes, and other people who live in dream worlds the rest of us cannot even imagine (the actors and actresses doubly so), make profound statements on politics, economics, religion, or just plain "right" vs. "wrong".
Except for whatever particular skill, artistry, or rare ability which brought them to the attention of a bored world, usually a relatively useless skill, artistry, etc., they have no more wisdom or insight into the problems of the world....or the solutions to those problems...than any other of their fellow citizens.
The only thing that makes their opinions stand out, is that the news media considers anything that comes out of their mouths to be pure gold. On the other hand, from what I see in some news media, anything that comes out the other end is pure gold as well.
In other words, I guess, the pronouncements by people like Tom Cruise, Charles Barkley, and others (I can't name many celebrities right offhand), are more important to the bottom lines of the news organizations, and to rabid fans, than they are to reality.
They have a right to their opinions. They have a right to express their opinions. I just don't see where their opinions are any better than those of anybody else...who may have actually had to live in the real world and deal with it without the aid of millions, mansions, bodyguards, minions, and adoring fans.
