  • Author Bio

Encouraged by her father at an early age, she developed a love of English Literature and dreamed of becoming an author. As an avid reader of classic literature as well as outstanding works of contemporary authors, her dream came true with her debut novel, The Sky Worshipers. It covers the era of Mongol invasions of the 13th century through the point of view of women. As a dedicated and meticulous researcher, her command of the Persian language gave her access to a treasury of information written by Persian historians of the Mongol era. Her novel has received praise from readers, distinguished authors, as well as from the Historical Novel Society, Foreword Reviews and Paper Lantern Writers. Born in Kermanshah, Iran, she grew up in Tehran, where she attended bilingual schools run by Christian and Jewish minorities.

Her father, originally from India, had come to Iran in his late twenties. As the son of a linguist who taught English Literature in India, he exposed her to the English language and she learned to love classic literature under his instructions. She has been inspired by the works of such literary giants as George Eliot, Thomas Hardy, Sir Walter Scott, Charles Dickens, Leo Tolstoy, Margaret Atwood, Daphne du Maurier, to name just a few. She received her Master’s degree in Writing from Johns Hopkins University in 2016.

She currently resides with her husband and a Siberian cat in Maryland, and is currently working on her second novel, which is focused on Sicily in the 13th Century. Her plan is to continue writing for as long as she lives.
